Princess of Wales at Westminster Abbey~Part One

Hello, friends!  I have something a little different for you today.  But first, let me explain why.  I talked a bit about the inspiration about this hobby of duping royal fashions here, but didn't say anything about the motivation.  When I started, I did it to dupe fashions to fit my lifestyle.  I am a busy mom of 4 and, at the time, they were maybe 6-16.  I homeschooled them, worked from home, and shuttled the four of them to activities nearly every day.  Coat dresses would look a little out of place at the dance studio, but I knew I could take those pieces and tweak them to make them appropriate for work, running errands, and date nights with my husband or girls nights with my friends.  The kids are now 11-21 and my life has not slowed down at all (if you're interested in following along with our real life we're on Instagram here)!  So, part one will be my normal post.  Part two will be how I would take the inspo and tweak it for my real life.  If you like these kinds of posts, let me know!  I would love to do more.  And if you're interested in try-ons of these looks on a midsize body or a part three night out look, let me know that too.  If you'd like to skip to the more casual look, you can do that here.  Now, on to part one!

Final Thoughts:

On 20 December 2022, Princess of Wales arrived at Westminster Abbey to plant a tree in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as part of Queen's Green Canopy. She can wear plaid like no one else, probably because she looks amazing every time she does! Her blackwatch plaid coat was by Holland Cooper. She wore it over an Iris & Ink turtleneck sweater and skirt which was paired with a custom pair of Gianvito Rossi boots. Very chic!
For the picks, I thought a little about how to maximize our wardrobes. I don't know about you, but I would definitely be able to make more outfits with a solid color trench coat as opposed to a plaid one, and I could wear a skirt many different ways. With that being said, I chose a plaid midi length wool skirt by IDEALSANXUN. If blackwatch plaid (known as green 1901 in the listing) isn't your thing, they have many other options and in a longer length as well. You can find a plaid that suits you!
I paired it with a turtleneck sweater from AMAZON ESSENTIALS. I chose green since Catherine's was green, but you could also go with navy. This also has many color options, so it's a good fit for any plaid colorway.
Since we went with a plaid skirt, I chose a solid trench. This one by MAKKROM has a good length.
And the boots from DREAM PAIR comptete the look. Personally, I would choose a more neutral pair that I would get more use out of, but this style comes in lots of color options.
