Queen Letizia of Spain, born Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano, was born on 15 September 1972. As the wife of King Felipe VI, she is the Queen Consort of Spain.
Letizia is no stranger to the public eye, having worked as a journalist for several agencies prior to her courtship and subsequent marriage to the then Prince of Asturias. In 2004, she married Felipe, who, as Prince of Asturias, was the heir apparent to the Spanish throne.
Queen Letizia is the mother of Leonor, Princess of Asturias (heir presumptive) and Infanta Sofía, who were born in 2005 and 2007 respectively.
In June 2014, her father-in-law King Carlos abdicated the throne in favor of Felipe. Upon his abdication, Felipe and Letizia became king and queen.
